Erie County Credit Union

The Bar Association of Erie County offers its members all the benefits of a full-service credit union. The State Banking Department has granted permission for an amendment to the bylaws of the Erie County Employees Credit Union that adds the Bar Association of Erie County, its members and their employees as those eligible to participate in the credit union. The spouses and children of members are also eligible to participate.

The ECECU is a financial institution jointly owned by all of its members and offers such banking options as no-fee checking, "share" savings accounts, direct deposit, VISA credit cards, a bill payment system, low interest rate loans and much more. "Share" savings accounts can be opened for a $1 entrance fee and an initial deposit of $25. The ECECU banking office is located on the first floor of the Rath Building, 95 Franklin Street and open Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Organized in 1940, the ECECU was created to help members save and borrow money safely, confidentially and at a fair rate of interest. The credit union is committed to "responding to member needs by helping them earn more on savings, pay less on loans and save money on fees." Low or no minimum balances are also available on credit union accounts.

To open an account with the credit union, members must present identification which shows BAEC membership, such as a copy of a dues invoice. BAEC staff will also supply confirmations for members to use for this purpose if requested. Employees and relatives of members must also present a form of identification confirming their relationship to the member. A letter on the member's office stationery will suffice for this purpose.
