January 24, 2020
9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
BAEC, 438 Main St., Sun Room Auditorium, Buffalo
4.0 CLE credits: 1.0 Ethics, 3.0 Areas of Professional Practice (approved for all attorneys)

In March 2020, updates to NY's data security-related laws will go into effect, broadening the application of the law and its impact on any business holding the records of a resident of New York. These updates to the General Business law will expand the type of information to be protected, increase information maintenance obligations, and broaden the obligation to disclose unauthorized access to or misappropriation of certain data. These changes will impact not only clients, but law firms and any entity conducting a business using a computer (or a cloud service, or even just a phone).  Please join the Intellectual Property, Computer, and Entertainment Law Committee for a 4-hour CLE that will break down the obligations (including sample language for policies), discuss the ethics, address the risks, and review enforcement of this update to the law.
